About Richmond

Richmond is a town in New South Wales located in the Hawkesbury City's local government district. 

It is situated on the plains of the alluvial Hawkesbury River at a latitude of 33 ° 35 '54 "south and a longitude of 150 ° 45'04" east, 19 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Blue Mountain. 

It is approximately 65 km away from Sydney by route.

History of Richmond

In 1788, the Darug people were the indigenous peoples to the area.

The region was first settled by British explorers in 1789 and they named 'Richmond Hill' the surrounding eminence west of the Hawkesbury River. The name was given by Governor Phillip in honor of Charles Lennox, Richmond 's third duke, who was the Pitt administration's Master General of Ordnance.

Tourist Attraction Richmond

Richmond Park is a city park and leisure centre. It is also a heritage site, which borders the East Town, Windsor and March Road, Richmond, Hawkesbury, New South Wales , Australia. 

The park belongs to the town council of Hawkesbury. On 5 March 2010, it was added to the Register of National Heritage of New South Wales.
