About Pitt Town

Pitt Town is a historic Sydney community and suburb located in New South Wales province of Australia. Pitt Town is situated 59 kilometers northwest of the central business district of Sydney in the City of Hawkesbury local government area. This is surrounded by the Hawkesbury River to the north.

History of Pitt Town

Pitt Town locality was formerly the Darug people's residence for more than 40,000 years. The Darug community through various tribes populated a wide region of Western Sydney drainage.

The area now known as Pitt Town and Pitt Town Bottoms have been defined for the aboriginal group as Bardo Narang (also known as Barden Narang and Bardenarang). It means a "small channel," specifically referring to the freshwater stream that runs north from the Pitt Town Lagoon to the Hawkesbury Dam.
