About Kurmond

Kurmond is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.  It is situated in the City of Hawkesbury between Kurrajong and North Richmond on Bells Line of Road.

The suburb is about 70.5 km west of Sydney central business district.

History of Kurmond

The suburb was originally known as Longleat. Kurmond was derived from the neighbouring town names Kurrajong and Richmond.

In the 1930s, Fred Stephens describes growing up on a soldier settler block at the area.Kurmond was well known at that time for its orchards and soldier resettlement.

Tourist Attractions in Kurmond

Kurmond has Barrel 58, one of the most famous culinary landmarks in the area. It serves high quality drinking and dining experiences to visitors to the Great Divide. It has a contemporary and minimalist dining room as well as great views of the surrounding countryside.

There is also the Kravings, an intimate little restaurant with a Contemporary Australian menu. It offers grills, seafood and pasta on the menu and is also popular with locals that say their desserts are heaven. 

A Place To Be is one of the lodges tourists can stay in. It offers a shared lounge, a garden, terrace as well as a continental or buffet breakfast.

Schools in Kurmond 

The Kurmond Public School is a coeducational primary school, serving years K-6. Students are provided with extensive opportunities including band, choir, dance groups, public speaking and debating. They also  include an active sports program and participate in the Public School Sports Association competitions.
