About Kenthurst

Kenthurst is a semi-rural suburb in the Hills District Region of  Sydney,  New South Wales, Australia. It features a large park, a shopping village and park complex, numerous schools, a petrol station, function centre, rural fire service station and a public swimming pool. 

The suburb sits approximately 39 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district. 

History of Kenthurst

Kenthurst was originally known as Little Dural. A public meeting was held in 1886 to discuss a change of name. "Kent Forest" was suggested as an appropriate name for the area however it wasn't popular and eventually became Kenthurst. 

Kenthurst was derived from the English County of Kent and 'hurst' that means a woody hillock.

Tourist Attractions in Kenthurst

The village green which is located across Nelson St from the shopping village is a public swimming pool, a basketball/netball court, barbecue facilities, a playground, park benches and a large grassed area. 

Rotary Park which has a big grassed area, a basketball hoop, bbqs, shade, and a flat track around the grass that’s great for scooters. Across the road lies the Hidden Jem Cafe that serves all-day breakfast and lunch plus coffee, smoothies and shakes in a bright, airy setting.

Schools and Sports in Kenthurst

Schools within the suburb are Kenthurst Public School, St Madeleine's, Marian College, The Hills Grammar School,Kenthurst Preschool and Pacific Tutoring.

Kenthurst has its own netball club, soccer clubs such as Kenthurst and District Football Club, and the Kenthurst Upper Hills Club, a cricket club. These sports clubs are maintained by Kenthurst Rotary.
