Glenorie is a rural suburb and part of the Hills District of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is located 44 kilometres north-west of central Sydney in the local government area of The Hills Shire and Hornsby Shire.
Glenorie was originally part of Dural and later known as North Dural, however, it caused confusion for the post office. In April 1894, William Black offered two names which are Hazeldore and Glenoriethe to Colony's Postmaster General. Glenorie was accepted as it had the support of the local progress association. It was named after a known and popular town in Scotland.
Glenorie has the Glenorie Growers’ Market in which visitors can sample and buy a wide variety of fresh products and tasty delicacies, meet the growers and producers, and learn more about local food production.
Visit and taste the pies, pastries and the pizza of the Glenorie Bakery. This Bakery has won praise and awards for the quality and value of its offerings.
Bring the kids to Glenorie Fairy Forest and enjoy the decorations hanging in the trees and miniature huts and furniture on the ground, as well as its gardens and playground.
The Glenorie Public School is the only school in the suburb. It is a coeducational primary school, serving years K-6 and was established in 1888. The Hillside Public School which was established in 1926 and the local secondary school Galston High School were the schools in the neighboring suburb of Glenorie.
