Glenhaven is a suburb in The Hills Shire in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is about 32 km drive north-west from the CBD in Sydney and is surrounded by Dural, Castle Hill and Kellyville.
Originally the area was named Sandhurst, which remains Glenhaven`s most prominent street.
A public meeting was held to change the suburb’s name due to some confusion with mail as the suburb in Melbourne has also the same name. The name Glenhaven was derived as it reflects its valley location. The upper portion of the valley was known as "The Glen", and the lower portion as "The Haven".
The suburb has a great view to the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands. On the east side of Old Northern Road is the Flower Power Garden Centre. It is a must-visit for any Sydneysider as it has a fantastic range of bulk landscaping materials and giftware store and a tranquil ornamental lake the kids will love.
There is also the Glenhaven Oval Playground and Glenhaven Park. The park provides an accessible play area, restroom, baseball field, paths - paved, picnic tables, playground, skatepark, soccer field, softball field, and tennis court.
Glenhaven has 3 schools including Glenhaven Public School, Lorien Novalis School for Rudolf Steiner Education and Samuel Gilbert Public School.
Glenhaven Oval features a single sports field with synthetic cricket pitch which is covered in the winter. There is also the soccer club that utilises an area to the north of the main field as a junior field.
