About Galston

Glaston is a semi-rural suburb situated in the Hornsby District of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is located from the city at 36 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district. It is also close to Hornsby Heights, Dural and Arcadia.

History of Galston

Galston was originally known as Upper Dural until in 1886. Alex Hutchinson suggested that the new school be named Galston after the town of Galston, East Ayrshire in Scotland.

Since European settlement began, the suburb had been an agricultural town and was home to a huge number of orchid growers.

Tourist Attractions in Galston 

Galston is a great place to visit as it has several astounding attractions.

The Waddell Cottage, a former family home of one of the original orchard growers in the area. The cottage is surrounded by a small garden which is in excellent condition and was built by James Waddell in 1866. 

Fagan Park which is a large recreation area and  includes the Gardens of Many Nations and a picnic area at Carss Bush. 

Also, the Buddhist Golden Wheel Temple is a modern building with magnificent gardens which include the flowering peach trees.

Schools and Sports in Galston

There is no private school in Galston. The only institutions within the suburb are the Galston High School, Galston Public School, and KU Galston Preschool. 

Hayes Oval is used for soccer, softball, cricket and many other sporting activities making it a home to the Hills Hawks Soccer team.
