About Freemans Reach

Freemans Reach is a suburb in the Hawkesbury Region of New South Wales, Australia. The suburb is situated 65 kilometres north-west of Sydney in the local government area of the City of Hawkesbury. It is also bounded  by the Hawkesbury River in the south.

History of Freemans Reach

Freemans Reach is a  locality and a reach of the Hawkesbury north of Richmond and upstream of Argyle Reach. 

The suburb’s origin was uncertain as it has several ideas where it came from. It was said that it was settled by free men in the early times. Some also say that it was named after two brothers who settled in the area. Also in the 1828 Census lists, Samuel Freeman, a millwright, is living at Richmond.

Tourist Attractions in Freemans Hill

Several spots can be found in the suburb. 

The Purple Noon Gallery which is one of the finest galleries in regional NSW.  It serves regular, curated exhibitions and incorporates an evolving collection of local and national Australian art and sculpture. 

Macquarie Park has a sandy beach area which gave a great place to swim. It also has a cafe with decent food and drink at reasonable prices.

There is also the Tic Toc Equestrian where you can train to horse riding or have an  Education about horses or ponies. 

Schools in Freemans Hill

Freemans Reach Public School, a co educational primary school that serves years K-6 is part of the Hawkesbury Learning Community. This school offers a good balance of cultural, sporting, social and academic programs.
