About Cherrybrook

Cherrybrook is a suburb in the Hills District of Sydney, New South Wales Australia. It is approximately 27 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Hornsby Shire.

History of Cherrybrook

In 1839, Joseph Harrison with his wife Mary Ann Thompson settled on a block in the area. They planted orchards and built a small timber cottage which they called Cherrybrook Cottage. The suburb’s name, Cherrybrook, is thought to come from the cherry trees which they grew near the creek. The area eventually became known as Cherrybrook Farm.

Many years later, Eric Vaux bought the property, established a dairy and kept the name Cherrybrook.

Several parks and playgrounds to find in the suburb are the Kanangra Crescent Park, Darlington Drive Playground which is a good place for a dinosaur fan as it has dino eggs, and a large dinosaur head.
